My work experienceMy work experience took place at Honest Jones which is located in north Kensington. It is a record shop which was first set up in the 1970 and is still running to this day. I wasn't sure why I choose this placement but It was because I knew the person who ran the store so I could get the job quite easily. I was nervous at first but during the 2 weeks I really enjoyed my self. I had a range of tasks to do while I was working there to keep me busy and make sure I was always making use of myself.
-sleeving -filing -moving -sorting -master bagging -being at the till / helping customers During the time I worked there I did try to get five pictures a day but unfortunately I wasn't sure what to get them of. However I still tried managing to get about 25-30 pictures. I decided to take them on my iPod touch as I really liked our work on mobile photography and that inspired me to use that rather than a proper camera. Because at this point I was still inspired from the previous work we had done on mobile photography. The pictures |
Honest jons/ Portabello roadThe area around there is really amazing and it came from a slum as the area used to really poor with cheap housing. Back in the early 20th century the large houses had awful conditions and a large amounts of Caribbean migrants lived around here. Its really represented with some of its graffiti and other shops around that area as well as lots of music inside the shop. As you enter the shop there is a large selection of jazz, blues, funk then as you get to the end of the aisle there was reggae. Obviously the shop had other music but its nice to see the culture is still there which

Favourite imageOut of all the images I really liked this one, most likely because it wasn't set up it was just at the right time. To be honest i'm not sure about who the guy is on the picture was but this one just really stood out to me as I was taking the pictures on my iPod and its slightly elevated It gave the effects of the guy looking over the shop. Also this pictures really sums up my time at work experience and the history which portabello road, such as the yellow walls or the reggae 7'' you can see hanging from the wall.

Least favourite imageI really don't no what I was trying to accomplish in this, I believe I did it to try and show my journey to and from work. However it was a badly taken photo and there is a obvious reflection and bad quality which brings down the quality of the photo. I should have deleted it but it's useful as I can use it is a example of a badly taken photo later on so now I know when doing mobile photography I cant rush the pictures or they will look bad.
